The largest lake in the Winter Park Chain

Lake Maitland is the largest and most scenic lake in the historic Winter Park Chain of Lakes, known for its crystal clear water, stunning lakefront estates and the famous Dog Island. We bring the boat to you, launched and ready.

Whether you live locally or are visiting for the day, our Winter Park boat rental makes it easy. Meet us at the Fort Maitland Park public boat ramp, or if you are staying on the lake, we can deliver straight to your private dock.

Boating on Lake Maitland is a relaxing day on the water. Beach the boat at Dog Island, cruise past the lakefront homes, go tubing behind the deck boat or settle in for a quiet afternoon of fishing.

Captain Mike’s tip for Lake Maitland

Plan your day around Lake Maitland itself. Our boats are wider than the maximum beam allowed in the canals, so rentals stay on Lake Maitland and do not travel through to Lake Osceola or the rest of the chain.

Staying on Lake Virginia or Lake Osceola? The pontoon can be delivered to Dinky Dock, but it must stay on those lakes.

Lakefront estates

Cruise past the breathtaking homes around Winter Park’s largest lake.

Watersports ready

Crystal clear water for swimming, and room for tubing behind the deck boat.

Public ramp access

No private dock needed. We meet you at Fort Maitland Park with the boat ready to go.

Bring the swimsuits

Lake Maitland is made for getting in the water. Head for Dog Island and use the swim ladder on the pontoon, or take the Hurricane deck boat and spend the afternoon tubing behind it. When you want a slower pace, it is just as good for sunbathing and fishing.

Boating on Lake Maitland

A Winter Park boat rental on Lake Maitland gives you plenty of space for cruising, fishing and sunbathing. Pick your pace: a day at Dog Island, an afternoon of tubing or a quiet cruise past the estates.

Planning your day on the lake

Dog Island

Beach the boat at Dog Island, let the Bluetooth stereo run and swim in the clear water.

Sunbathing

Lake Maitland offers plenty of space to spread out and soak up the sun, with a Bimini top on board when you need the shade.

Watersports

Tubing is available with the Hurricane deck boat, so book that one if you want to pull the tube.

Cruising and fishing

Cruise past the lakefront estates or spend a quiet afternoon fishing from the pontoon. Anyone 16 or older who fishes needs a Florida freshwater fishing license.

Staying on Lake Maitland

Lake Maitland is the only lake in the Winter Park Chain our rentals can use, because our boats are wider than the maximum beam allowed through the canals. That still leaves you the largest and most scenic lake in the chain to explore.

Want spring-fed water and a sandbar instead? Our Lake Conway boat rental in Belle Isle and Butler Chain of Lakes boat rental in Windermere are both clear-water chains with private dock delivery.

Which boat suits Lake Maitland?

Both boats work well here. If tubing is on the plan, go with the Hurricane deck boat. If your day is more about Dog Island, a family gathering or fishing, the pontoon gives you shade, lounge seating and room to spread out.

Rentals stay on Lake Maitland

We would rather tell you that now than after you have booked. Our boats are wider than the maximum beam allowed in the canals, so they cannot travel to Lake Osceola or the rest of the Winter Park Chain. For a bigger day of exploring, our Lake Toho boat rentals give you a big open lake from the Kissimmee Marina, and our St. Johns River boat rental gives you miles of river from Lake Monroe Park in DeBary.

You drive, so you get the boat’s full capacity: up to 11 on the pontoon and up to 12 on the deck boat, depending on weight.

Captain Mike meets you at Fort Maitland Park, launches the boat and walks you through it before you leave: throttle and trim, how to get around the lake, and how to reach him if anything comes up. Never driven a pontoon before? That is most of our customers, and the walkthrough is built for them.

Lake Maitland questions we get asked

Where do we meet you?

At the Fort Maitland Park public boat ramp, 600 Orlando Ave in Maitland. If you are staying on Lake Maitland, we can deliver to your private dock instead.

Can we take the boat to Lake Osceola or Lake Virginia?

Not from Lake Maitland. Our boats are wider than the maximum beam allowed in the canals, so rentals stay on Lake Maitland. If you are staying on Lake Virginia or Lake Osceola, the pontoon can be delivered to Dinky Dock, but it must stay on those lakes.

What is Dog Island?

Dog Island is a popular spot on Lake Maitland where boaters beach the boat to swim and socialize.

Can we swim and go tubing on Lake Maitland?

Yes. Lake Maitland is known for its crystal clear water, which makes it great for swimming, and tubing is available with the Hurricane deck boat.

Are life jackets on the boat?

Yes, a Coast Guard approved jacket for every seat, sized for adults and kids. Florida law says children under six wear theirs the whole time the boat is moving, so tell us how many little ones are coming when you book and we will have the right sizes aboard.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?

No, neither boat has a head. Plan a quick run back to Fort Maitland Park or your dock mid-day if you are out for a long day with kids.

Can we bring our dog?

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

What happens if it storms?

Central Florida gets short, hard afternoon storms in summer, and lightning means everyone comes off the water. We try to look at the weather the night before and make the call then. If you lose an hour or so, we can work something out.

Other lakes we deliver to

Lake Maitland is our Winter Park lake, with a public ramp handoff. If your group wants a different kind of day, one of these may be the better fit, and the same flat rate applies. We deliver to 11 lakes and chains in total. Lake Brantley and the Harris Chain are call-only.

Kissimmee. Kissimmee Marina meeting point, trophy bass fishing and wildlife.

St. Cloud. North Side public ramp, quieter water than the west lake.

Windermere. Spring-fed water and Bird Island. Private dock only.

Belle Isle. Clear water and a popular sandbar. Private dock only.

Wide river, wild banks. Fishing, manatees in the cooler months and a lot of room.

North Orlando. Lake Fairview Park or Grills Lakeside, easy in and out.

Winter Garden. Big open water and a straightforward public ramp.

Orlando. Small, close in, and an easy first time out on the water.

Orange County. HOA private ramp handoff, so a dock or ramp is needed.
