Captained options
Don’t want to worry about navigating the submerged cypress trees, or just don’t want to drive? Hire Captain Mike to take the wheel. He can pick your group up right from your backyard dock, and he knows John’s Lake’s big bass water.
Want another bass lake? Our Lake Toho boat rentals in Kissimmee are known for trophy bass fishing. For spring-fed water and a sandbar, try our Lake Conway boat rental or Butler Chain of Lakes boat rental.
Which boat suits John’s Lake?
Both boats work well here. If tubing or skiing is on the plan, go with the Hurricane deck boat. If your day is about bass fishing or a quiet family day, the pontoon gives you shade, lounge seating and room to spread out.

Watch for submerged cypress trees
We would rather tell you that now than after you have booked. John’s Lake has submerged cypress trees, so navigate with care or hire Captain Mike to drive. If you want wide open water instead, our Lake Toho boat rentals give you a big open lake from the Kissimmee Marina, and our St. Johns River boat rental gives you miles of river from Lake Monroe Park in DeBary.
Who drives, and when we start

Captain Mike, USCG licensed
You drive, so you get the boat’s full capacity: up to 11 on the pontoon and up to 12 on the deck boat, depending on weight.
Captain Mike meets you at the ramp or your dock, launches the boat and gives you the orientation before you leave: throttle and trim, how to get between the two pools, and how to reach him if anything comes up. Never driven a pontoon before? That is most of our customers, and the walkthrough is built for them.

Rates and booking
We bring the boat to you for one flat price. The pontoon starts at $450 and the deck boat at $550 for a four hour minimum, then $50 an hour after that. Private dock delivery adds a one-time $50 fee, and Captain Mike can drive for $150 for the first four hours, then $25 an hour.
Staying at a lakefront rental for the week? Multi-day rentals start at $275 a day, and we can leave the boat at your dock for the whole trip. Full rates are on the pricing page.
John’s Lake questions we get asked
Where do we meet you?
At the John’s Lake Public Boat Ramp, 13620 Lake Blvd in Winter Garden. If you are staying on the lake, Captain Mike can deliver to your private dock instead.
Is there parking at the public ramp?
Parking is very limited and fills up fast, especially on weekends. Meet us early, or choose private dock delivery to skip the parking entirely.
Can Captain Mike drive for us?
Yes. Hire Captain Mike to take the wheel and he can pick your group up right from your backyard dock. It is a good option if you would rather not navigate the submerged cypress trees yourself.
Can we go tubing and skiing on John’s Lake?
Yes. Try the Hurricane deck boat, which is the one we use for tubing and skiing.
Are life jackets on the boat?
Yes, a Coast Guard approved jacket for every seat, sized for adults and kids. Florida law says children under six wear theirs the whole time the boat is moving, so tell us how many little ones are coming when you book and we will have the right sizes aboard.
Is there a bathroom on the boat?
No, neither boat has a head. Plan a quick run back to the ramp or your dock mid-day if you are out for a long day with kids.
Can we bring our dog?
Well behaved dogs are welcome.
What happens if it storms?
Central Florida gets short, hard afternoon storms in summer, and lightning means everyone comes off the water. We try to look at the weather the night before and make the call then. If you lose an hour or so, we can work something out.
Other lakes we deliver to
John’s Lake is our Winter Garden lake, with a public ramp or private dock handoff. If your group wants a different kind of day, one of these may be the better fit, and the same flat rate applies. We deliver to 11 lakes and chains in total. Lake Brantley and the Harris Chain are call-only.
