One of Central Florida’s premier boating destinations

The Harris Chain of Lakes is a beautiful interconnected system with over 76,000 acres of water. We deliver your boat to the public ramps on Lake Dora, giving you quick and easy access to the entire chain.

The chain includes Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Eustis, Lake Dora, Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton and Lake Griffin. Lake Dora sits on the eastern side, right next to the charming town of Mount Dora, and from there the scenic Dora Canal takes you through to Lake Eustis and the rest of the chain.

Boating on the Harris Chain of Lakes is made for a full day, or a multi-day adventure: cruise the Dora Canal, pull up to waterfront restaurants by boat, and explore the parks and scenic shoreline. For lake details, see the FWC Harris Chain info page.

Waterfront restaurants by boat

One of the best parts of boating the Harris Chain is pulling up to a restaurant by boat. Lake Harris Hideaway in Tavares has a classic Old Florida vibe on a large deck over the water, with burgers, fried shrimp, cold drinks and pets welcome on the deck.

Boating on the Harris Chain of Lakes

A Harris Chain of Lakes boat rental gives you seven connected lakes to explore from Lake Dora. Pick your pace: canal cruising, a dock-and-dine lunch, a fishing trip or a relaxed day on the water.

More stops on the chain

Fish Camp on Lake Eustis is a favorite for farm-to-table dining, craft beers and waterfront seating. Many of these spots have docks or are within easy walking distance of the public ramps, so call ahead to confirm dock space, especially on busy weekends.

Want a lake closer to Orlando? Our Winter Park boat rental on Lake Maitland and our St. Johns River boat rental in DeBary both meet you at a public ramp.

Which boat suits the Harris Chain?

Both boats work well here. On a chain this size, the Hurricane deck boat covers more distance between lakes. If your day is about canal cruising, a restaurant stop or fishing, the pontoon gives you shade, lounge seating and room to spread out.

$100 Harris Chain delivery fee

We would rather tell you that now than after you have booked. Delivery to the Harris Chain of Lakes (Lake Dora area) requires an additional $100 delivery fee, which covers the extra distance and time to transport your boat to the ramp. For a lake closer to Orlando, our Lake Toho boat rentals give you a big open lake from the Kissimmee Marina, and our St. Johns River boat rental gives you miles of river from Lake Monroe Park in DeBary.

Captain Mike meets you at your Lake Dora ramp, launches the boat and gives you the orientation before you leave: throttle and trim, how to find the Dora Canal, and how to reach him if anything comes up. Never driven a pontoon before? That is most of our customers, and the walkthrough is built for them.

Harris Chain questions we get asked

Where do we meet you?

At Grantham Point Boat Ramp in Mount Dora (311 S Tremain St) or Wooten Park Boat Ramp in Tavares (200 S Rockingham Ave). We can also deliver to other ramps on the chain, such as Hickory Point.

Can we stop at restaurants by boat?

Yes. Puddle Jumpers, Hurricane Dockside Grill, Lake Harris Hideaway and more are reachable by boat. Call ahead to confirm dock space, especially on busy weekends.

Is there an extra delivery fee?

Yes. Delivery to the Harris Chain of Lakes (Lake Dora area) requires an additional $100 delivery fee, which covers the extra distance and time to transport your boat to the ramp.

Which lakes can we reach?

From Lake Dora you can reach the whole chain: Lake Eustis through the scenic Dora Canal, plus Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton and Lake Griffin.

Are life jackets on the boat?

Yes, a Coast Guard approved jacket for every seat, sized for adults and kids. Florida law says children under six wear theirs the whole time the boat is moving, so tell us how many little ones are coming when you book and we will have the right sizes aboard.

Is there a bathroom on the boat?

No, neither boat has a head. Plan a restaurant stop or a quick run back to the ramp mid-day if you are out for a long day with kids.

Can we bring our dog?

Well behaved dogs are welcome.

What happens if it storms?

Central Florida gets short, hard afternoon storms in summer, and lightning means everyone comes off the water. We try to look at the weather the night before and make the call then. If you lose an hour or so, we can work something out.

Other lakes we deliver to

The Harris Chain is our farthest delivery, with a public ramp handoff on Lake Dora. If your group wants a different kind of day, one of these may be the better fit, and the same flat rate applies. We deliver to 11 lakes and chains in total. Lake Brantley is call-only.

Kissimmee. Kissimmee Marina meeting point, trophy bass fishing and wildlife.

St. Cloud. North Side public ramp, quieter water than the west lake.

Windermere. Spring-fed water and Bird Island. Private dock only.

Belle Isle. Clear water and a popular sandbar. Private dock only.

Wide river, wild banks. Fishing, manatees in the cooler months and a lot of room.

Winter Garden. Public ramp or private dock, and legendary bass fishing.

Winter Park. Fort Maitland Park public ramp or private dock, and Dog Island.

Orlando. Pontoon only, with plane spotting and the SR 408 bridge.

Orange County. HOA private ramp handoff, so a dock or ramp is needed.

Every lake and chain we deliver to, and whether the handoff is at a public ramp or a private dock.
